Kite returns with a new song called “Tranås/Stenslanda”

It’s been nearly 5 years since Kite’s last EP.

Kite

Kite is back. Finally.

It’s been nearly 5 years since their last EP (Kite only releases EPs) and 2 years since we last heard new music, the song “Demons & Shame.” The Swedish duo of Nicklas Stenemo and Christian Berg is one of the greatest synthpop bands in the world right now.

The new song is called “Tranås/Stenslanda.” I reached out to Kite’s new representatives at Astronaut Recordings and found out that those are the small villages in southern Sweden where Nicklas and Christian grew up. It appears to be a nostalgic piece about childhood, and Nicklas absolutely lets his voice rip on the chorus. There’s additional instrumentation on the song by Finnish musician Jukka Rintamäki with an EBow, which really gives the song a warm, organic feel.

Kite released a video for “Tranås/Stenslanda.” It’s lush and dreamy and features footage from their concerts at the Royal Opera in Stockholm.
