Listen to “Shattered Bones” from VH x RR

“Shattered Bones” has been remixed by Mesh, Czarina, Fused, and BlakLight.

Emerging synthpop project VH x RR has a dark and broody new track out called “Shattered Bones” that is equal parts epic and melancholic, my two favorite traits in synthpop. Just check out this chorus: “We fall apart and we crumble like shattered bones.”

If the “Shattered Bones” single wasn’t epic enough, it also comes with a collection of remixes from some of my favorite artists in modern synthpop, including Mesh, Czarina, Fused, and BlakLight. That’s quite a lineup. Mesh gives the song an alt-rock edge, while BlakLight adds the pulsating blips that have become their trademark.

“Shattered Bones” is the follow-up to VH x RR’s recent single, “The Fray.” If you’re new to the band, they are an American synthpop duo comprised of Von Hertzog and Rob Rowe, the former lead singer of the synthpop band Cause and Effect. The two musicians connected via social media in 2016 and began making music together, but they’ve yet to meet in person. Von Hertzog lives outside of Philadelphia and Rob Rowe is based in Seattle.

As VH x RR, they’ve released just a handful of songs, including a beautiful track from earlier this year called “Somewhere in Time” that is one of my favorite tracks of the year.

VH x RR has yet to release a full-length album, but this is definitely a band to keep an eye on.

You can find “Shattered Bones” exclusively on Bandcamp.
