Nuovo Testamento gets remixed by Drab Majesty and Second Skin

Drab Majesty remix “The Searcher,” one of the year’s best songs.

Nuovo Testamento

Nuovo Testamento is one of the nicest surprises of the year. Over the summer, they released their debut album, New Earth, which features energetic sounds mined from ’80s Italo disco and processed through a modern-day darkwave lens.

New Earth includes a big summertime track called “The Searcher” with an incredible hook that will lodge its way into your brain: “I I I don’t want to see see you.” You’ll be seeing “The Searcher” very near the top of my best-songs-of-the-year list.

Darkwave aliens Drab Majesty have now remixed “The Searcher” for a quick remix collection called New Earth Remixes. They’ve dropped the tempo a bit and given the song a spacier sound, though it retains the Italo disco vibe and unforgiving earworm.

The New Earth Remixes set also includes a remix of the album’s other big song, “Michelle Michelle” from gothic rock band Second Skin. There’s also a third remix of deeper cut “Vanity” by Nuovo Testamento themselves.

If this is your first introduction to Nuovo Testamento, they are a trio comprised of Italian musicians Andrea Mantione and Giacomo Zatti and American singer Chelsey Crowley. They all have a long history of working in other bands, primarily the deathrock projects Crimson Scarlet and Horror Vacui.

You can find New Earth Remixes on Bandcamp.
