Assemblage 23, one of the biggest names in dark electronic music, has revealed plans for a new album. Null is due out November 7, 2025, and will be preceded by two singles: “Tolerate” on September 19 and “Believe” on October 17.
Null will be Assemblage 23’s tenth studio album. It’s been five years since last album Mourn arrived during the COVID-19 pandemic. It contained some incredible tracks like “Epiphany” and “Welcome, Apocalypse.” Read my review of Mourn here.
Frontman Tom Shear says the new record has been his main focus for the past year. While he’s keeping further details under wraps, he describes Null as “a very clubby and energetic album.”
In 2021, Assemblage 23 marked the 20th anniversary of their breakthrough sophomore release, Failure, with a special anniversary edition. Tom recorded new mixes of every track and included remixes from Rotersand, Clan of Xymox, Suicide Commando, and Patrick Codenys of Front 242. To celebrate that release, I counted down my favorite Assemblage 23 songs.
