Shannon Hemmett may just be the coolest person on the planet. As the keyboardist for post-punk band ACTORS, she’s sort of the project’s secret weapon, adding a sparkling electronic whiz to the band’s swirling maelstrom.

Shannon is also a visual artist and tattooer, and she has a solo project called LEATHERS that allows her glossy synths and sleek vocals to take center stage. LEATHERS has a new music video out today for her latest single, “Reckless.”

“Reckless” has a mysterious, cinematic scope brought to life by melancholic synthlines that rise and fall across its beat. When she sings, “You don’t have to be so cruel,” you can imagine the drama that led to that line.

The song appears on a new 4-track EP that collects previously released LEATHERS songs “Phantom Heart,” “Missing Scene,” and “Day for Night.” Post-punk.com reports that LEATHERS is currently working on a full-length album and planning to tour in 2022.

You can find “Reckless” on Bandcamp and Spotify.
