Swedish synthpop duo Vanguard has an energetic new song out today called “Ragnarök,” named after the great battle in Norse mythology that leads to the end of the world. The cover art features a dark fantasy image of a sword-wielding warrior fighting a mecha-Fenrir.

“Ragnarök” is the first new song we’ve heard from Vanguard since their last album, Manifest, was released in 2019. That album contained a big dancefloor stomper called “Riot.”

Vanguard was formed in 2008 by Patrik Hansson and Jonas Olofsson. Hansson also has a solo project called Uncreated that recently teamed up with Mark Hockings of Mesh for a fantastic song called “Hand Grenade.” It was one of my favorite songs of February 2021.

You can find “Ragnarök” on Bandcamp and Spotify.
