German electronic artist Scheuber returns today with a double-single containing new songs “Burn the Sun” and “Never Been Missed.” They might just be the best work I’ve heard from the project.
You can find the double-single on Spotify and other digital platforms.
These two songs are incredible. They both have pitch-black beats, intense synth melodies, and catchy hooks. There’s also a subtle sensuality that hovers across each track. I honestly can’t decide which song I like best.
You probably know Scheuber as musician Dirk Scheuber, cofounder and keyboardist of Project Pitchfork. He’s been described as the “introverted, quiet, and reflective half” of the band.
For these two songs, he’s teamed up with a friend and collaborator named Danny Wollank. I don’t know anything about Wollank, but his work here with Scheuber is very promising.
On Facebook, Scheuber promises that his next album is not far away. Scheuber’s last album, Shades, came out last year and featured a great song called “Smoker.” It was among my best synthpop songs of 2019.
Scheuber and Wollank released a music video for “Burn the Sun,” which you can watch below.
