The Colorado-based futurepop artist Voicecoil has a new music video out today for their excellent track, “Nostalgia Trap.” It’s a conceptual piece that looks professionally shot with a dark setting and bright, shiny lights. I love it.
“Nostalgia Trap” is my favorite song from Voicecoil’s latest album, Singularity. It was number one on my list of the best synthpop songs of July 2020.
If you haven’t heard “Nostalgia Trap” yet, pay close attention to the lyrics. There are references to classic songs by VNV Nation, Covenant, Joy Division, Apoptygma Berzerk, Neuroticfish, and probably others I haven’t placed yet. It’s timely, too. I think right now we can all relate to dreaming of better times when those songs were at their peak.
