French duo Minuit Machine has a new song out today called “Lion in a Cage.” It’s a dark, pulsating number with a thumping beat and compelling lyrics about feeling trapped. The music videos features an athlete pushing herself to the brink.
“Lion in a Cage” is the first single from Minuit Machine’s next album, which will be released on November 4, 2022. It’s called 24. They’ll also be embarking on a North American tour in the fall that includes a headlining performance at Tampa’s Absolution Festival.
Minuit Machine’s last album, Infrarouge, came out in 2019 and featured one of their best known songs, “Prey/Hunter.” In 2020, they released a four-track EP called Don’t Run From the Fire. I included the powerful title track on my list of the best songs of the year.
Minuit Machine is musician Hélène de Thoury and vocalist Amandine Stioui. They’re part of the Synth Religion family of dark electronic artists that also includes Fragrance and Hélène’s other project, Hante.
