Belgian EBM duo Ultra Sunn released a blistering new song today called “Set Yourself on Fire” that will appear on their forthcoming EP, Kill Your Idols. We’ve already heard the EP’s first single, “Can You Believe It,” which arrived last October.
Kill Your Idols is a five-track EP due out March 3, 2023. It’s the band’s third EP, following their 2021 sets Body Electric and Night Is Mine. Here’s how the band describes it:
‘Kill Your Idols’ hardened the tone and planted the flag of a new generation that thirsts to write its own history.
The tracks offer a fierce reflection on our time with the desire to make a clean sweep of the past while embarking anyone who feels carried by this pure energy and this thirst for freedom and renewal.
“Set Yourself on Fire” is accompanied by an angsty music video that features footage of the band and actor Alice Bisotto ultimately lighting a blaze. Ultra Sunn’s Sam Huge and Gaelle Souflet directed the video themselves.
In Summer 2022, Ultra Sunn released a pair of singles called “The Speed” and “Out of the Cage” that showcased the band’s brutal EBM beats and compelling vocals. I included “Out of the Cage” on my list of the best songs of the year.
