The animated band Gorillaz has a new song out today “Aries” that features former New Order and Joy Division bassist Peter Hook. The bass on this is unmistakably Hooky. It sounds like a classic New Order song.
“Aries” is the third song from a Gorillaz project called Song Machine. The project promises to release new singles as they’re created that feature a broad array of collaborators. They’ve previously released songs in the series called “Momentary Bliss” and “Désolé.”
Gorillaz is the project of Blur frontman Damon Albarn and Tank Girl illustrator Jamie Hewlett. The band frequently collaborates with artists from across genres, mostly from hip-hop, but they’ve also worked with Lou Reed and James Murphy.
