BlakLight is back. The promising new synthpop band from Los Angeles released their second original song today, a lovely track called “Unknown Love.”

You can find “Unknown Love” on Bandcamp and Spotify.

The single includes a cover of a David Bowie track, “Ashes to Ashes” from Bowie’s 1980 album Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps). “Ashes to Ashes” is one of the Bowie tracks that revisits his famous astronaut character, Major Tom, from “Space Oddity.”

Back in August, BlakLight released their debut single, “Isolation.” I loved the song immediately when it came out, but it’s steadily become one of my favorite tracks of the year for its poignant lyrics: “Come on take my hand. Take my hand. And let’s dance. In isolation.”

BlakLight is a new duo comprised of vocalist Brian Belknap from Mind Machine and programmer Adam Collier from Crush333, MDA, and Full Frontal Disco.

They are in the finishing stages of their debut album and will be announcing full details soon. I can’t wait!
