Pet Shop Boys announce Smash singles collection

Legendary synthpop duo the Pet Shop Boys have announced a greatest hits collection called Smash: The Singles 1985-2020. The 55-track best-of set will be released June 16.

Smash opens with the Boys’ first hit, “West End Girls” from 1985, and concludes with “I Don’t Wanna” from their most recent album, 2020’s Hotspot. It includes many of my favorite PSB songs: “It’s a Sin,” “Being Boring,” “Can You Forgive Her,” “The Pop Kids,” and many, many more.

This may seem redundant to Petheads. They’ve released numerous collections, including 1991’s landmark set, Discography, and 2003’s PopArt. However, every track on Smash was remastered this year for the highest quality.

The Pet Shop Boys commented:

“As we start work on a new album, and later this year continue our ‘Dreamworld’ greatest hits tour, it seems like a good time to take stock and bring together every single we’ve released.”
