Cold Connection – “Trocadero”

Cold Connection

Swedish synthpop duo Cold Connection released a new music video today for their latest single, “Trocadero.” It features classic black-and-white footage of soldiers marching into battle and drone footage of a fortress.

“Trocadero” is my favorite track from Cold Connection’s debut album, Seconds of Solitude, so I’m very happy they released it as a single. I recently named it number 8 on my list of the best synthpop songs of 2021. Here’s what the band says about this mysterious song:

The song is inspired by the historic battle fought in 1823 between Spanish rebellions and French troops by the walls of fortress Trocadero. But, it is also about the battle within ourselves and loneliness.

Seconds of Solitude is a remarkable debut and one of the best albums of the year. It also includes the previously released singles “Strange Kind of Paradise” and “Burning Love.”

I recently named Cold Connection the best new synthpop artist of 2021. Read my interview with the band to learn more about their background, their approach to songwriting, and what’s next for the duo.

You can find “Trocadero” on Bandcamp and Spotify.
