Swedish electronic artist Rein has a new music video out today that spans multiple songs from her 2020 album, Reincarnated. It’s a weird approach. Cool visuals though.
Rein previously released two music videos from Reincarnated for the songs “Off the Grid” and “Closer to Reality.” They were originally prefaced Chapter 1 and Chapter 2, and they formed an ongoing cyberpunk storyline inspired by The Matrix. It looks like Rein has abandoned that concept. Too bad, I was really looking forward to Chapter 3.
The Reincarnated video is timed with the release of Rein’s new single, “Dystopia,” which is my favorite track from the album. I love the way she combines influences on this song as diverse as Nitzer Ebb and Janet Jackson.
Reincarnated is Rein’s debut album, though she’s been pumping out energetic one-offs since 2016. It was number eight on my list of the best synthpop albums of 2020.
